Feeling good about my contributions to Find-A-Grave over the past nearly four years. I still have 25-30 more photos to add from my most recent cemetery visit.
Of course there are still dozens of my own ancestors to link together as parents/children or spouses on Find-A-Grave, so that future generations will see the relationships at a glance. I've started this process but won't be finished for some time.

Great work. I was actually at a huge cemetery in Queens, NY this morning with my boyfriend to visit his grandmother's grave. I always notice the stones that are becoming or are already illegible. I really want to get back there soon to do some find-a-grave work.
ReplyDeleteAnna, you are so right about some stones becoming illegible. One of the great things about Find-A-Grave is the ability to show stones as they are now, in case deterioration removes the names/dates. When I visit an ancestor, I photo every grave I pass there, and the graves surrounding my destination, and the graves on the way back. Makes me feel good to think of family researchers being able to see the graves and the family links on F-A-G.
DeleteMarian, I am also a Find A Grave member. It is a nice feeling to help others find their ancestors. It is also very peaceful to walk cemeteries. On behalf of those you have helped, THANKS!
ReplyDeleteSo many times, info I've found on Find-A-Grave has helped me and this is my way of repaying the debt AND ensuring that my ancestors' burial info is available to all. Thank you for your contributions, Colleen!
