When Was That Volunteer Last Active on Find A Grave?

Something new at Find a Grave: Now when you look at a user's profile, you can see approximately when that person was last active on the site.

Before I submit an edit to a Find a Grave memorial, or try to contact that memorial's manager, I can check how long it's been since that user has been active.

Here are the activity levels I've seen so far:

  • Over a year ago. My interpretation of this activity level is I doubt I'll hear from the user if I ask a question or submit an edit.
  • In the past year. Maybe I'll hear back, maybe not, but there's some hope.
  • Last month. Active not very long ago, so I'll probably get a response to an inquiry or edit.
  • This month. An active user! Better chance I'll get a response.

I like this new activity indicator and will aim to keep mine at "This month" if I can!

  1. Good tip! I'm hoping they're keeping track of us logging in instead of actually editing memorials. I only manage a few but I log in weekly.

  2. I think it would be lovely if Find-a-Grave could see its way clear to putting a limit on the period of inactivity, and if a manager of a memorial is not active within that period, the memorial should be thrown open for adoption by FAMILY MEMBERS who will care for the memorial. I have a feeling that a lot of the memorials that are set up for a number of my relatives are not members of the family. I sure don't recognize the names of a lot of them. I at least sponsor these sites. That way, I feel justified in offering corrections when necessary.

  3. One of my gripes is that I used to get e-mail notifications when someone suggested an edit to a memorial I manage. I haven't gotten any of those in years, despite notifications being turned on for memorial updates, which are SUPPOSED to include "memorial transfers, suggested edits, suggested merges, etc." Sometimes life intervenes and I can't always log in to check, but it would certainly help if FindAGrave actually sent the notifications they are supposed to send.
